The SpongeBob Movie Storyline
SpongeBob SquarePants is thrilled to discover he has finally grown tall enough to ride the most intense roller coaster in Bikini Bottom, but he soon finds himself paralyzed by fear. Desperate to prove he is a “big guy” and as brave as Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob accidentally summons the Flying Dutchman (Mark Hamill) while exploring a secret basement of pirate relics.
The Flying Dutchman, who is cursed to roam the Underworld until he can find an innocent soul to take his place, tricks SpongeBob and Patrick Star into joining his crew. He promises to teach SpongeBob the ways of a brave swashbuckler through a series of dangerous trials in the depths of the ocean. However, the Dutchman eventually tricks SpongeBob into blowing a magical horn that swaps their fates—turning the Dutchman back into a mortal human (who moves to Santa Monica) while SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs are turned into bearded ghosts. With the help of the Dutchman’s assistant, Barb, SpongeBob must find the courage to face the roller coaster of his nightmares to destroy the horn and reverse the curse before sunset.
