A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Storyline
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the show is set roughly 100 years before Game of Thrones (and about 70 years after House of the Dragon). Unlike the previous series, this is a smaller-scale, more “human” story focused on personal honor rather than massive wars.
The story follows Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), a young, honest, and exceptionally tall hedge knight who is wandering Westeros with nothing but his horse and a suit of armor. At an inn, he encounters a precocious, bald-headed boy named Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), who insists on becoming his squire.
The duo travels to a tournament at Ashford Meadow, hoping to earn coin and glory. However, Dunk soon discovers that Egg is actually Prince Aegon Targaryen, the youngest son of Prince Maekar. Dunk finds himself embroiled in a dangerous political conflict involving the royal family, eventually leading to a lethal Trial of Seven—a 7-on-7 melee where the gods are said to favor the just.
