Daldal S01 Web Series Storyline

The series follows DCP Rita Ferreira (Bhumi Pednekar), the youngest officer to head the Mumbai Crime Branch. Rita is a “broken” protagonist—haunted by maternal abuse and personal demons—who uses weed to cope with her trauma.

The plot kicks off when a series of gruesome murders rocks the city, with a signature style: raw chicken stuffed into the victims’ mouths. The investigation soon turns into a “whydunnit” rather than a “whodunnit,” as the killer’s identity is revealed early on. Rita finds herself on a collision course with Sajid (Aditya Rawal) and Anita (Samara Tijori), two deeply troubled individuals whose traumatic pasts mirror her own, but who chose a much darker path for justice.

The Performance: Bhumi Pednekar’s portrayal of Rita is being called “stoic” and “career-best” by some, though others have criticized the character’s emotional stiffness.

The “Mardaani” Vibe: Critics have noted that while it shares the DNA of Mardaani and Delhi Crime, it is much darker and focuses more on the psychological damage of the officers.

Standout Supporting Cast: Geeta Agrawal Sharma is receiving unanimous praise for her role as Indu Mhatre, Rita’s supportive subordinate, while Aditya Rawal is being lauded for his terrifying yet vulnerable performance.

The Pacing: While the first two episodes are high-octane, some reviews suggest the middle section slows down due to repetitive flashbacks of Rita’s childhood.
